Bill Harris is Big
Brother of the Year
for the State of Montana!!!
Bill has
been matched with his Little Brother Tanner since August of 1999. Bill and Tanner enjoy having great
conversations over after school clam chowder snacks. They like to fish, bike, and play
foose-ball. Tanner said, “Without Bill I
wouldn’t have fun anymore, I wouldn’t have anyone to joke with, no one to fish
and hunt with, or even cook with. And who would I have to do our special hand
shake with? Bill and I were meant to be brothers.”
Thank
you Bill for your commitment to Tanner, Big Brothers Big Sisters,
and
our community!
Little
Moments Lunch
The Annual
Big Brothers Big Sisters Big Magic Breakfast will this year be held during the
lunch hour.
Tuesday May
20th Noon to 1pm
This is a
free one-hour fundraising event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. The event
will include lunch, presentation from some “littles,” and testimonials of
current and/or former matches.
We are still
in need of table captains…
That simply
means inviting 8-10 of your friends to lunch to learn more about Big Brothers
Big Sisters and how they can become involved in making a “Big” difference in
our community…
If you would
like more information, or would like to be involved please contact the office
at 752-0092
Remember
Recess???
School is
getting ready to start again, and School Based Mentoring
or ‘Lunch
Pail Pals’ is a great way to be involved with BBBS.
Spend one
lunch hour each week with a youth at their school, make a difference and
play! If you are (or know) a high school
student, college student or business person who would like to volunteer…please
contact us at 752-0092.
Lunch
Pail Pals, our School Based Program is in need of some games for our matches to
enjoy.
Do you
have board games, cards, puzzles, spare crafts or similar items you would like
to donate? We would be happy to make use
of them in our schools. Please contact
Mary at 751-3701 or Christy at 892-6570 ex:230. We will arrange to pick them up
or you can drop them off at the main BBBS office.
Thank
you so much for your support!

GREAT ACTIVITY IDEAS
**FREE
Archery for Matches! Canyon Archery has been kind enough to offer
free Archery on Mondays between 9am and 9pm. Any Match who have their own
equipment are welcome to come and use either the indoor or outdoor ranges for
free. If time allows, Rick Miller, owner of Canyon Archery, will be glad to
give tips or brief lessons if needed. If you have questions, call Rick at
892-1944. *No appointment is necessary for archery on Mondays.
**The
Whitefish Wave will allow Bigs who are members bring their Littles free of
charge. You can shoot baskets in the gym, play raquetball, work-out or play in
the water. The Wave allows kids 12 and older to use the work-out equipment,
after a short training session. The kid's waterslide will have extended hours
during the summer --M-F from 1pm-8:45pm and on weekends from 11am-7:45pm. There
is also a lap pool with options for free swim. For more info call the Wave at
862-2444.
**Andrea from Red
Riding School LLC contacted BBBS wanting to provide a unique opportunity
for our matches. She offered free weekly horseback riding lessons for a Little
when accompanied by their Big. The lessons usually last about 1.5 hours and are
a perfect outing for a Big and Little to enjoy together. This is a great
opportunity for you and your Little to learn more about horses. There is an
indoor and outdoor arena. She can only take 2 more Littles for this special
opportunity. If your Little doesn*t want to commit to lessons then spend an
afternoon at Red Riding School learning all about horses. What a fun
activity!! Please call Red Riding School directly at 755-6826 if you and
your little are interested. They are located at 2621 Airport Rd in Kalispell.
**Take a tour
of Montana
Tom’s, where they make delicious chocolate treats! Tours are 30 * 45
minutes. Pay attention, because there*s
a little quiz at the end, and if you answer the questions, you get chocolate.
For information on times and days of tours, call Montana Tom, himself at
892-3108.
**BBBS has scholarships available for
summer activities. Your Choice! Call us
if you need financial help with a camp, lessons, or other experiences. We also
have suggestions and resources.

HELP SPREAD THE WORD
Bigs, do you have a
friend who likes to have fun and would take a younger person along, make a new
friend and share some activities? Could
we send them some information and/or application? Maybe you are a member of a club,
organization, church or sports group. We
can send a presenter to tell them about the benefits and opportunities
available through Big Brothers Big Sisters to share positive experiences while
expanding horizons for a youth in the community. The best source of new Big Brothers and
Sisters have been friends, acquaintances and families of those who have already
been involved with the program. We need
your help to get the word out that BIGS are needed. We have kids who are ready and excited to
have an adult friend NOW! Please call
752-0092 and we will contact your referrals and organizations to get the word
out. Thanks for all you do.
